The Dover District is steeped in history, with the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, several castles including the Lord Warden of Cinque Ports residence, Walmer Castle. As well as the coastline, the District has wonderful countryside, lush valleys and beautiful parks and gardens.
Dover District Council’s Licensing Team are seeking to recruit an experienced Licensing Enforcement Officer to enforce licensing legislation, give advice to businesses, lead on project work, participate in multi-agency operations and raise the profile of the service whilst ensuring public safety needs are met. You will be key in the fulfilment of the Councils responsibilities in the administration and enforcement of a wide range of licensing functions in accordance with statute, guidance, policies and procedures.
Duties will include preparing and presenting comprehensive reports and papers to a range of bodies including the Licensing committee and sub committees. The post holder will also need to undertake a range of licensing inspections so as to ensure compliance and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. This includes conducting interviews under caution, preparation of prosecution files, legal notices, reports, schedules and correspondence. You will also be required to respond to licensing related complaints and ensure thorough and detailed investigations are conducted and recorded. Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant will need to attend visits, inspections and meetings outside of normal office hours as required.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a licensing role
- Enforcement experience including knowledge of RIPA, PACE, CPIA
- Comprehensive knowledge of licensing legislation and procedures across a broad spectrum of the Local Authority Licensing function
- Familiar with Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Educated to ‘A’ Level (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
- Due to the nature of the role, this post requires an Enhanced DBS check. Forms will be provided.
