We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual who wants to make a real difference to improve our neighbourhoods and the homes we live in. This is a challenging but rewarding post working in our busy Private Sector Housing Team based in Dover.

This post will mainly deal with improving housing across the district within the Private Rented Sector. The work will include responding to resident’s complaints, surveying homes and requiring landlords to improve their properties by persuasion, advice or enforcement. You may also be involved with empty properties, housing assistance and caravan site licensing. 

Main Duties:

The main duties of this post is to undertake and assist with some or all of the various aspects of Private Sector Housing work including dealing with complaints on poor housing conditions; HMO Licensing; bringing empty properties back into use; Caravan Site Licensing and administering  Disabled Facilities Grants and other housing assistance through grants and loans

Essential Requirements:

The successful applicant will need to have a minimum 2 years experience working in a building or housing surveyor  related field, HND/HNC or equivalent in Building/Environmental Health.

It would be advantageous but not essential for the successful applicant to have knowledge of

  • Local Government procedures
  • Private sector housing services

Please note: Due to the nature of this role a current driving licence and own car is essential
